Who’s the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec?

If my experience is any indication, the winner of this prestigious industry award for young professionals will be pretty humbled.

Many people that I meet who have won awards are fairly humble. In most cases, the person being honored was simply doing their part to be involved in something they believed in whole-heartedly. That is how I felt in December 2014 when I learned I was to receive the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives’ first-ever Young Professional Award.

The award recognized my enthusiasm in volunteering to help serve this organization that promotes the professional development of association executives in Wisconsin. I participated in the online community and served on the member engagement task force. In my mind, it was a great organization to be a part of and that is why I put forth maximum effort. While my service didn’t stem from wanting to win an award, being recognized certainly boosted my enthusiasm even higher – and this year I’m leading the member engagement task force!

I imagine that many people who are nominated for the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec competition are also stunned at first. Those I have talked to who have made it to the final round note that it is truly a life-changing experience to present their projects in a international forum. Not only are they making terrific connections, they get the opportunity to communicate to the CU industry how they are positively affecting their members, community and the movement.

If you have been nominated, take a second to pat yourself on the back and then begin planning your NTCUE application video! What you have done and continue to do for credit union employee  is appreciated by many! If you haven’t been nominated, but are implementing a great program at your credit union, nominate yourself!

Nominations of any credit union employee age 35 (and not a CEO) are open until June 5 on the CUES’ Next Top Credit Union Executive website. You can also follow the contestants’ postings and, in November, watch the presentations and the humbling final awards ceremony live at this link.

The Cooperative Trust is all over CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec!

In our 5th year of the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec competition we had 109 nominations. Of those 109, 24 have stepped up and created video applications. And after consulting with James Marshall, it looks like eight of the applicants are members of The Cooperative Trust!

Well done and thank you. Thanks for putting yourself out there. Thanks for taking a chance. And thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedules to go through with your application. This means a lot to all of us who put this competition on every year including CUES, DDJ Myers and Currency Marketing. As the host of the finalist presentations in Florida, I do my best to stay totally impartial, but what I will say after reviewing this year’s videos and projects is that we have an absolutely great group of young professionals in the competition.

We’re now in the vote for the Top 15 phase. Voting will be open until July 30 and members of the credit union industry and the general public are encouraged to vote for their favorite applicant. The Top 12 applicants with the most votes will automatically move on. A committee selected by CUES will choose up to three additional applicants to move on. Together, these people will form our Top 15.

If you haven’t yet, get in there and vote for your favorite now!

Showing Some Love for our Next Top Credit Union Executives!

Hey gang!

So once a year, this thing comes around called ‘Next Top Credit Union Executive‘. It’s this totally awesome competition, run by CUES, that awards the best and brightest of young credit union leaders. (Which is why we’re wondering how Devin won in 2011? JUST KIDDING. We love Devin!). Anyway, our small family always manages to create an amazing crop of entrants for this and we want you to go give them all the support you can and follow them on their journey! You can vote for them here.

So this year our fantazmigorical, supercalifagilistic, expialidotious competitors are (in no particular order)….

Drum roll please…..

So there you have it! Our entrants to this years NTCUE competition. And I know what you’re thinking….

“WOW, they’re a talented bunch, how do I choose one over the other when I go to vote?”

Well, to be honest, I don’t know. And I am going to make it harder for you because there are two more people that deserve special mention from us! We want to give some extra love out this year. So, here it goes. First is to Emma Avery, our favourite Australian. Emma has been working on a project or two with us and has an incredibly bright future in the cooperative world.

Next is Chad Huseby, since Devin won, we felt like we needed to have a ‘token Canadian’. Just kidding, Chad is awesome and works for Servus CU as a branch manager, his project is WAY cool.

So, please have a look at both Emma and Chad’s entries too and please support our family! Remember to vote, you can do that by clicking here. Voting closes on July 29th at 5pm ET.

To start connecting please log in first.
